SNM Florence

After the girls' first Eurostar train ride which included not knowing where to put Megan's big ass suitcase, not getting to sit together because I didn't know I could ask the lady at the ticket office to make that happen, and finally a sweet man helping us get all of our bags off the train, we arrived in Florence! It was much colder than we all expected but it was a really fun change to be in the bustling city. We stayed right in the heart of Florence which was a two minute walk from the Duomo in one direction and 5 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio in the opposite direction. S and M were fascinated by the intricate keys we had for each hotel. We meant to take a picture of each of them but I admit...I forgot.
The first place that we went was of course the Duomo.

Starving from not eating lunch, we had a late lunch/snack right next to the Duomo where we could look out the window and see it!
S and M first Italian Pizza...Quattro Stagioni meaning the four seasons. Each ingredient representing a different season.

Right off the piazza in front of the Duomo was a street called Ave Maria. Of course we had to take a picture under it. Disregard the random man in front of us.
 Night on the Ponte Vecchio
After wine we were walking back to our hotel and a local comedian was doing a sketch right in front of our hotel in the middle of the street. He was hysterical!
You can tell from the faces that they are making at eachother.

 The comedian and his muses
Afterward we found a carousel in another piazza and HAD TO RIDE IT! I think the bliss in Megan's face sums it up perfectly.
Never a dull moment with the dos bitches
Sunday morning we went to Mass at the Duomo and got to sit basically right next to the altar. It was a pretty awesome experience despite the fact that the interior of the church is rather underwhelming considering the rest that we saw in Italy. Afterward, we saw the REAL David which I am so glad that we did because the scale really is different than what I expected. Afterward we walked over to the Ponte Vecchio to see it during the day and look at the shops on our way to see the Pitti Palace, the later home of the Medici.
 Lunch before the museum.
 S and M loved this
On the way to the museum of course we had to stop and shop. This place was probably one of our best moments in Florence. The shop owner, Matteo, had the best personality and was an amazing salesman convincing us through personal stories that every woman should get exactly what she wants, especially from her husband. Megan and him where a perfect match!
View out from the gardens at the Pitti Palace
In the gardens at the Pitti Palace. We had dinner and then got up early the next morning for our trip to Positano....life is going to get better!
